West Virginia is ground zero for a prescription drug abuse epidemic affecting millions of Americans. To humanize this national issue, youth reporters from Richwood High School produced a video that highlights the devastating effects of substance abuse on their community.
Students at Richwood High School in West Virginia reported on the importance of water quality in their community and what other regions can learn from a recent spill that spread toxic chemicals in their water supply.
Six members of the Student Reporting Lab at Richwood High School, accompanied by their teacher Susan Johnson, attended a workshop at the Reed College of Media at West Virginia University. The workshop was funded by a grant from the West Virginia Broadcaster's Association.
