About the Reporting Labs
PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs are classrooms, after-school programs and clubs around the country producing original, inspiring reports about how national and global issues affect local communities.
Teresa White is the News Program Coordinator at Free Spirit Media, a Chicago-based nonprofit that equips teens with professional broadcast skills. She enjoys helping the youth discover their talents and supervising their television news show, FSM News.
Teresa previously taught journalism to middle school students and served as the editor of the teen literary, DCX Magazine. She also enjoys documentary filmmaking and was a contributing writer in a 2011 book entitled “Dear Dad: Reflections on Fatherhood.
She earned a B.A. degree in news-editorial journalism at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a M.A. in broadcast journalism at Northwestern University.
Before joining FSM News, Dan Neumann spent time reporting on climate change, conflict and peace building, refugees and gender issues in Africa.
He has worked on news reports for European broadcasters and produced advocacy documentaries for international human rights groups.
Dan is a Colorado State University alum and once lived with Fulani herdsmen in The Gambia, West Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer.
He is now helping the FSM News crew bring their own stories to the limelight
